The inaugural edition of the Packaging, Design, Innovation and Technology (PDIT) conference jointly organized by IPPStar and Messe Düsseldorf India saw overwhelming response with more than 110 delegates in attendance on the first day and a bit less on the second day of the conference. The two-day event took place at Bombay Exhibition Centre on 16–17 December alongside the International Pack Tech India 2016 exhibition, organized by Messe Dusseldorf India, and the International Drink Tech exhibition organized by Messe Munchen.

The biannual trade fairs, drink technology India, PackTech India and FoodPex India with focus on the beverage and liquid food, packaging technology and food processing industry, opened today at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai. Scheduled from 15–17 December 2016, the trio trade fairs are showcasing the best of innovation and state-of-the-art products and technologies.

It is one of the most coveted industry awards in the field of packaging: the WorldStar Award of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO). In 2017 the award presented annually will be extended to include another category. The new “SAVE FOOD Packaging Award” is designed to recognise packaging solutions that can help to reduce food loss and waste. Those eligible are sustainable concepts with the lowest use of resources possible.

At the upcoming PrintPack show, QuadTech will present its extensive portfolio of print quality and waste saving solutions in Hall 14, Stand G43. Among the featured solutions will be four new technologies introduced at drupa 2016, which promise consistently high color quality, reduced production time, waste reduction and dramatically lowered consumable costs.

Although admitting to some uncertainty about sustainability in the year ahead, Organic Monitor (www.organicmonitor.com) has given its predictions for sustainable foods in 2017.
