
Mumbai, 7 August 2026 – The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) has announced the results of the Indiastar 2026 jury meeting, which evaluated and judged this year’s winners. The announcement was made by Shekhar Amberkar, the deputy director and head of the International Packaging Centre, Indian Institute of Packaging, highlighting the noteworthy response to this prestigious national packaging excellence awards program.
The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), while maintaining its unique position as an internationally reputed organization, continues to respond to the evolving needs of the country and is a window to its improving capabilities in packaging science, technology, and innovation. Building on its distinguished legacy of over six decades, IIP instituted the Indiastar Awards in 1972 to recognize and promote excellence in packaging design, innovation, technology, and sustainability. The biennial competition has evolved into India’s most prestigious and globally recognized packaging excellence awards.
With a growing emphasis on innovation and sustainability in packaging, a total of 424 entries, accompanied by numerous sample packages, were submitted for evaluation. Following a comprehensive and transparent assessment process, the jury selected the most outstanding entries that demonstrated excellence in innovation, functionality, sustainability, consumer convenience, and packaging performance.

The jury met on 1 August 2026 at the Indian Institute of Packaging, Mumbai. Its members included Dr Tanweer Alam, professor and Regional officer of IIP Delhi; Dr Rajiv Desai, senior Technical advisor of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance; Dr Bindoo Ranjan professor, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in New Delhi; Mrinal Banerjee, senior consultant to the flexible and rigid packaging industry, Nitin Shah, past president of the Bombay Master Printers’ Association: and Associate professor Samson Mathai at the MIT ADT University in Pune.

The Indiastar packaging excellence awards program is recognized and endorsed by the Asian Packaging Federation (APF) and World Packaging Organisation (WPO). Indiastar winners are nominated for the Asiastar and Worldstar awards.
The consistently high standard of nominations has further strengthened Indiastar’s reputation as the country’s most credible platform for recognizing excellence in packaging, with the student category identifying, encouraging, and recognizing emerging talent and inspiring the next generation of packaging professionals, designers, and technologists. The enthusiastic participation from students this year underscores the increasing interest in packaging as a dynamic, technology-driven, and innovation-oriented profession.
