ChinaPlas 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), Hongqiao, Shanghai, PR China has set a new record, expanding to over 390,000 square meters, spanning 16 exhibition halls and fully occupying the entire venue. More than 5,000 quality exhibitors from around the world gathered, representing an increase of 11% compared with the 2024 edition in Shanghai, demonstrating the industry’s robust resilience and strong momentum.

Prices of plastic raw materials are experiencing rapid variations, making the stability and resilience of industrial and supply chains a pressing global issue. As the world’s leading plastics and rubber exhibition, this four-day event (21–24 April) is themed ‘Transformation · Collaboration · Sustainability,’ focusing on four core directions: Circular Economy, Digitalization, Innovative Materials, and China’s High-end Technologies. The exhibition presents global innovations in smart, green, and innovative technologies, strengthening confidence in today’s uncertain global market and guiding the high-quality development of the plastics and rubber industries.

ChinaPlas 2026 brought together over 5,000 quality exhibitors from 46 countries and regions, creating a high-end technology and trade exchange platform that spanning the entire industrial chain — from raw materials to machinery and end-use applications. At the exhibition, more than 3,800 machines are running live demonstrations, over 1,900 raw material suppliers are showcasing their solutions, and 350+ exhibitors are presenting global or Asian first-launch technologies. Together, they outline a new blueprint for the “Smart, Green, Innovative” development of the plastics and rubber industries.

Exhibition quality advances in step with scale. The exhibitor lineup includes Fortune Global 500 and China Top 500 companies, alongside over 1,000 Specialized and Niche Chinese Enterprises, nearly 200 of which are recognized as national “Little Giants.” This record-breaking presence highlights the robust capabilities of “China’s High-end Technologies.”

Smart Innovation: AI + Manufacturing Integration

Artificial intelligence is accelerating its integration into manufacturing, becoming a core component of plastics and rubber production systems. At ChinaPlas 2026, smart technologies are showcased not as concepts but as practical solutions on production lines — enhancing efficiency, precision, quality, and energy savings. At the exhibition, cutting-edge solutions, such as fully automated intelligent injection, extrusion, and blow molding lines, IoT-driven digital management systems, AI real-time quality and energy monitoring platform, micro-injection molding, collaborative robots, etc., are displayed to demonstrate the leap of plastics and rubber technology from automation to intelligentization, drawing the attention of visitors throughout the exhibition.

Organized by VDMA and supported by Adsale Exhibition Services, “The Power of Plastics Forum” made its Asian debut, centering on “Green · Smart · Responsible”. This event brings together leading suppliers and technical experts from the German and European plastics industries, presenting a complete path from cutting-edge technologies to industrial application, including breakthrough recycling technologies, smart processing of recyclates, and industry transformations driven by digitalization and AI, thus helping the industry achieve systemic upgrades. In addition, “Smart Molding, Shaping the Future – Intelligent Transformation and Sustainable Development in the Plastics & Molding Industry” Forum organized by the Hong Kong Mould & Die Council, will explore how robotics, AI, and management systems drive intelligent upgrades and operational excellence.

Green Transformation Accelerates: Circular Economy Advances Towards High Value

Recycled plastics are no longer optional but essential for supply chains. With rising prices for virgin materials, recycled plastics are becoming increasingly competitiveness, while non-petroleum-based materials help address environmental and low-carbon demands. In the raw materials theme zones at the exhibition, especially the Recycled Plastics Zone and the Bioplastics Zone, exhibit highlights include post-consumer recycled materials, chemically recycled resins (chemical depolymerization, pyrolysis, enzymatic recycling), traceable automotive closed-loop materials, biodegradable materials, high-performance bio-based polymers, and low-carbon modified materials, showcasing the industry’s achievements in green transformation. In the Recycling Technology Zone, innovations are unfolded, such as upgraded physical recycling technologies, including post-consumer film washing equipment, bottle-to-bottle recycling systems and food-grade re-pelletizing systems, multifunctional AI driven sorting equipment, etc., driving plastics recycling steadily toward high-value.

Focusing on the circular economy, the organizer has carefully planned a diverse program of concurrent events. On April 20, the day before the opening of ChinaPlas, the “Plastics Recycling & Circular Economy Conference and Showcase” brought together more than 800 industry elites. Global authorities and leading enterprises in plastics recycling provided comprehensive insights into policy trends, technological innovations, and market outlooks for recycling and circular economy. In addition, the “Tech Talk” is unveiling over 40 breakthrough technologies, spanning five major themes including innovative packaging solutions, green and low-carbon solutions, automotive plastics solutions, etc.

Breakthrough Materials: Empowering High Growth in New Energy, Low-Altitude Economy, and Medical Sectors

Materials drive product upgrades. With a record high of over 1,900 materials exhibitors, ChinaPlas 2026 reflects surging demand for innovative materials.

On the fairground, visitors were greeted by a panorama of innovative materials designed to meet the evolving demands of both traditional manufacturing and emerging industries, such as new energy, energy storage, low-altitude economy, humanoid robots, advanced medical devices, etc. Innovative engineering plastics and polyurethane applied to EV battery packs help reduce overall vehicle weight, optimize thermal management, and enhance safety performance. High-performance polymers, such as PEEK, PI, PPS, and PPSU valued for their high heat-deflection temperatures, dielectric properties, and self-extinguishing flame resistance, are finding wide application in aerospace and electronics and electric fields. Carbon-fiber reinforced composites, combining high strength, rigidity, and lightweight advantages, enable drones and humanoid robots to achieve lightweighting while boosting performance. PCTFE, which is resistant to brittleness and creep in highly corrosive environments, is suitable for semiconductor equipment, chemical instruments, and medical analyzers. Impact-resistant and thermally conductive polycarbonate is designed for data centers and supercomputing servers. Innovative BOPE, with high stiffness and transparency, enables easier recycling and reuse when applied to packaging materials. High-performance medical-grade plastics, featuring excellent biocompatibility and resistance to ethylene oxide sterilization, are suitable for precision devices, such as ultrasonic scalpels and staplers.

The “Additives Seminar: Enhancing Sustainability and the Values of Plastics” made its debut at the exhibition, focusing on high-value solutions in modified plastics. It helps enterprises overcome cost and compliance bottlenecks, while leveraging innovative additives to achieve ESG goals, enhance product safety, and strengthen competitiveness.

The “Medical Plastics Connect” featured two forums and over 1,000 medical plastics technology suppliers at the fairground, offering a one-stop platform to unlock next-generation medical device solutions and its latest trends. The “Product Innovation Gallery”, themed “From Product to Technology · From Technology to Product”, showcased more than 200 pieces of meticulously crafted products. It provided visitors with insights into the manufacturing technologies behind these innovations, sparking inspiration and enabling efficient supplier connections.

 Global Buyers Converge: Expanding International Influence

The exhibition halls were buzzing with activities, filled with conversations, laughter, and the motion of machines. Professional buyers from around the world, carrying the latest procurement needs across 16 halls to engage in technology and business exchanges. Against the impact of rising chemical raw material prices gradually passing through to downstream consumer goods, visitors explored strategies to cope with cost changes, sought alternative material resources, secured reliable suppliers, and exchanged cutting-edge innovations to discover new possibilities.

The show’s internationalization has reached new heights, with more than 430 buyer delegations expected, including over 70 overseas delegations, further broadening the scope and depth of global exchange. Asia continues to account for the majority of overseas visitors. Compared to the last edition, this year’s ChinaPlas also welcomes new delegations from Argentina, Colombia, Egypt, Poland, Spain and other countries and regions.

To enhance upstream–downstream collaboration, ChinaPlas 2026 featured a comprehensive program of concurrent events. “Applications in Focus,” with seven themed forums, addressed over 50 hot topics, from antimicrobial technologies to cable innovation and medical equipment, revealing the pain points of end-use industries and seeking collaborative solutions across the supply chain. “InnoAccelerate” firstly sets a platform for Industry–academia–research collaboration with leading universities, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Huadong Polytechnic, and Donghua University, accelerating the commercialization of R&D achievements. “Development Day for Campus Elites” will bring campus recruitment onsite, connecting enterprises with future talents. “Day4 Trend Insights” will feature Decode Trends Forum to discuss policy and market analysis, CMF trend decoding, exploration of robotics and low-altitude economy, plus exclusive factory tour.
